If your child does not understand anything encourage them to bring their homework to morning challenge where we can help them with the concepts. This week, the children’s homework is supporting their mental arithmetic skills, and knowledge of story settings.

Maths: KS1 Problem Solving 2 page 5 or KS2 Problem Problem Solving 1 page 5

Handwriting: I have sent home this week a laminated sheet for handwriting practise and letter formation, all children need to practise. They may do all the letters or just a handful at a time. These are to be used continuously to support their cursive style and not to be handed back in.

Spellings: Please practise these frequently and they will have their spelling quiz the first Friday after half term due to the performance next Friday.

Reading: Please continue to read often with your child. If your child is a free reader, it is important they read a variety of text types and different authors – to continue to secure their enjoyment of reading. The children have access to a range of texts within our class library, which they are encouraged to use when changing their books. They are welcome to read a book from home within school.

Northgate have been learning how to mentally add and subtract using a numberline so encourage them to do this to help their problem solving.

Times tables: This week we have focused on rapid recall for number bonds. Please practise number bonds to 10, 20 and 100. Can they use their knowledge of number bonds to 10 to work out number bonds to 100.
